Sony announces Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Edition PSP with improved analog nub, superfluousness

Ah, Tokyo. Your unique culture and huge, confusing intersections are rivaled only by your ability to host incredible game shows. Specifically, the Tokyo Game Show.

At this year's TGS, Sony announced a limited edition Monster Hunter Portable 3rd edition PSP-3000. Along with ultra-cool decals and a pre-loaded Monster Hunter UI skin, this upgraded 3000 also boasts a higher-capacity battery and redesigned analog nub. For the moment, it appears as though this limited edition PSP will be exclusive to Japan, however that makes sense considering the fact that Monster Hunter's popularity begins to wane rapidly as soon as you leave the Land of the Rising Sun.

Still, it will be interesting to see how this redesigned analog nub compares to the current version, and whether or not any of the improvements made to this model will materialize in later iterations of the system. The special edition Monster Hunter Portable 3rd PSP-3000 will be available at kawaii, hunter-savvy Japanese retailers on December 1st, for 19,800¥.
