Following an announcement earlier this week that Realtime World's MMO APB: All Points Bulletin would be shut down for good, news hit the wire this morning that all remaining Realtime Worlds employees have been let go.
Founded by Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto creator Dave Jones, Realtime Worlds spent 5 years and over $100 Million Dollars developing what they'd hoped would be a groundbreaking MMPOG. After only three months, however, APB has been turned off and Realtime Worlds seems to be teetering precariously on the edge of oblivion.
Jones took to the APB community forums to share his feelings on the situation. "I am so sorry it had to end so quickly but hopefully the good memories will stay with us all for a long time."
While no official announcement concerning the ultimate fate of the company has been released, the situation seems grim. With no potential buyers, no official employees, and only temporary skeleton crews remaining to wind down operations, it seems inevitable that Realtime Worlds' doors will soon be closing for good.
